Other Storm Repair Projects: Hoonah, Juneau, Petersburg, and Skagway
Many storm damage sites have been repaired in Southeast Alaska. The following remaining sites are in design for permanent repairs, and they are expected to be constructed in 2025 or 2026. These sites are being monitored and maintained as needed until permanent repairs are completed.
Hoonah
- Front Street (MP 0.2): Culvert replacement, ditch regrading and stabilization, slope stabilization, associated roadway repairs, and repaving.
Juneau
Design is nearly complete on DOT&PF’s remaining Storm 2020 projects in Juneau. One site in this project group received extra security and design time due to cultural resource considerations. Design will be completed in 2025, and construction is expected for summer 2026.
- Glacier Highway / Lemon Road: replacement and repairs to embankment at culvert inlet and outlet (Milepost 0.588); repairs to constricted culvert outlet (MP 0.74); and repair to culvert outlet (MP 0.87)
- Glacier Highway / Tee Harbor: excavation, slope stabilization, and riprap placement at culvert outlets
- Glacier Highway / Eagle Beach: embankment reconstruction, culvert replacement, associated roadway repairs, and repaving
- Glacier Highway / Twin Lakes: repair to culvert outlet
See the Waydelich Creek webpage for that project’s status.
