Public Involvement / Outreach

During design and bidding, DOT&PF uses multiple ways to reach affected residents and businesses including:

• Online Public Notice with a 30-day comment period
• Coordination with Haines Borough
• Neighborhood and 1:1 meetings as requested
• Periodic email updates
• Area postcards

During construction, the contractor will inform stakeholders of project scope, expected work zone impacts, closure details, and recommended action to avoid impacts and changing conditions during construction. Measures to disseminate information during construction include:

• Contractor’s Worksite Traffic Supervisor
• DOT&PF’s Alaska Project Exchange at dot.alaska.gov/construction
• Road conditions at 511.alaska.gov
• Radio and/or newspaper
• Other location-specific communication tools
